Rolex Submariner 124060 Black Dial on Oyster 2021

The 124060 is the watch that settled an argument. Introduced in 2020, the no-date Submariner had long occupied a secondary position in collector conversation — overshadowed by the date variant despite sharing the same case, the same movement architecture, and the same 300-metre water resistance. The 41mm update changed that. Rolex enlarged the case from 40mm to 41mm, fitted the caliber 3230 with its Chronergy escapement and 70-hour power reserve, and gave the no-date reference a cleaner, more resolved dial by removing the cyclops lens and the date aperture entirely. What remained was the purest expression of the Submariner form: uninterrupted black dial, Mercedes hands, and a rotating ceramic bezel with no concession to complication.

This example presents on the black dial, which is the correct configuration for the 124060 — there is no alternative dial color in this reference, and the absence of a date window gives the dial a symmetry the date model cannot match. The F-serial places production in late 2021, consistent with the warranty date of December 2021. In hand, the matte black dial reads as a near-void against the polished-and-brushed Oyster bracelet, a contrast that photographs flatten entirely. Throughout — dial, case, bracelet, bezel, and caseback — condition is very good, with hardly visible signs of wear.
