Description

The Ref. 116500LN is the watch that ended a long argument. Rolex introduced the ceramic-bezel Daytona in 2016, replacing the aluminum-bezel 116520 that had defined the reference for fifteen years, and the transition was not without skepticism — collectors had grown attached to the older bezel's color range. What the 116500LN delivered in return was a Cerachrom bezel impervious to fading and scratching, paired with the Cal. 4130, Rolex's in-house chronograph movement built on a column-wheel and vertical clutch. The column-wheel — a ratcheted disc that governs pusher engagement — gives the 4130 a start-stop action that is noticeably cleaner than the cam-lever systems it replaced in earlier Daytonas.

The white "Panda" dial — white ground, black subdials — is the configuration most closely associated with the Daytona's racing heritage, and it reads more cleanly against the polished ceramic bezel than the inverse black dial does. On the wrist, the contrast between the sunburst white chapter ring and the matte black registers is something a photograph consistently underexposes. This example is offered on the Oyster bracelet in stainless steel, with a white dial in very good condition showing hardly visible signs of wear across the case, bezel, bracelet, and crystal.

In excellent condition, offered as a full set with box and papers.
