Rolex Daytona 116506 Ice Blue Diamond Dial on Oyster 2017
Description
The Ref. 116506 sits at the apex of the Daytona lineage — the first Daytona produced entirely in platinum, introduced in 2013 and reserved from the outset for Rolex's most demanding configurations. Where the steel 116500LN and gold variants share the same 40mm case architecture and Cal. 4130 column-wheel movement, the platinum reference exists in a category apart: the case metal itself changes the character of the watch, lending a cooler, denser presence on the wrist that gold cannot replicate. The Cal. 4130, with its column-wheel chronograph control and vertical clutch, remains one of the most technically resolved movements Rolex has produced — robust, precise, and entirely in-house.
This example carries the baguette diamond dial in Rolex's proprietary ice blue — a color reserved exclusively for platinum references, which makes the pairing not a styling choice but a material logic. The baguette-set hour markers demand a level of craftsmanship that the standard diamond-marker dial does not, each stone individually fitted and oriented; in person, the dial shifts between a cool grey and a luminous pale blue depending on the angle of light, a quality that no photograph has yet managed to capture honestly. The ceramic bezel and platinum Oyster bracelet complete a configuration that is internally consistent in a way the two-tone or gold versions simply are not.
Offered in excellent condition, with box and papers. Warranty card dated 2017.
