Rolex Datejust Lady 6917 Champagne Stick Dial on Jubilee 1983
Description
The Ref. 6917 sits at the center of the Lady Datejust's most collectible era — produced from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s, it was Rolex's definitive 26mm dress watch before the line was updated and renumbered. Powered by the Cal. 2030, an automatic movement with a quickset date mechanism introduced to replace the earlier Cal. 2028, the 6917 represented a meaningful step forward in daily usability without compromising the case proportions that made the Lady Datejust the standard against which smaller dress watches were measured. The plexiglass crystal, correct for the period, carries a warmth that later sapphire examples simply don't replicate.
This example pairs the two-tone Rolesor construction — steel case and bracelet with 18k gold accents — with a champagne dial set with stick indices, a combination that reads as quietly formal rather than overtly decorative. The bezel is set with 40 brilliant-cut black diamonds, which provide contrast against the warm dial in a way that a white-diamond bezel does not. On the wrist, the champagne dial shifts between gold and cream depending on the light; it is the detail a photograph consistently fails to settle. The Jubilee bracelet, correct for this reference, remains in very good condition throughout.
Offered in very good condition, watch only, with a warranty card dated 1983.
