Description

The Ref. 6827 occupies a specific and underappreciated position in the Datejust lineage — a 31mm two-tone reference produced in the late 1970s that bridged the smaller Lady-Datejust proportions and the full 36mm men's case. Rolex built it on an automatic movement with a screw-down crown and central seconds, housed in a combination of 18k yellow gold and stainless steel that became the defining aesthetic of the era. The plexiglass crystal, correct for the period, carries a warmth that later sapphire cannot replicate.

This example presents the grey dial with line indices — the quieter, more considered choice against the louder champagne and silver configurations that populated the same reference. Grey reads differently across light conditions than any photograph suggests: cooler in shade, almost slate, then lifting toward silver in direct light without ever losing its composure. The 18k yellow gold bezel and two-tone Oyster bracelet at original delivery length of approximately 21.5 cm confirm this as an unaltered example, retaining all original parts in their correct configuration.

In very good condition throughout, offered as watch only. Service valid through August 2026.
