Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classique 250.5.08 Silver Dial on Leather 2005
Description
The Reverso Classique is the reference against which every other Reverso is measured. Introduced in the 1930s as a polo player's watch with a case that pivoted to protect its dial, the Reverso became Jaeger-LeCoultre's defining statement — and the Classique line preserved that original proportional logic into the modern era. Ref. 250.5.08 is a 23x38mm two-tone example in 18K yellow gold and stainless steel, running a quartz movement beneath a sapphire crystal. The Arabic numeral indices on the silver dial are correct for the Classique: they read as the original Art Deco drawings intended, without the fussiness that Roman numerals can introduce at this case size.
The two-tone configuration — yellow gold for the case, steel for the bezel — is the more considered choice over all-steel or all-gold. It gives the watch warmth without weight, and the contrast at the bezel edge sharpens the Reverso's already architectural lines. The silver dial in this light is not flat; it carries a quiet texture that shifts between cool and warm depending on the angle, something no photograph of this reference has ever quite resolved. Delivered on the original JLC strap with fold clasp, with original papers dated 2005.
In very good condition throughout, with hardly visible signs of wear on the case, crystal, bracelet, and bezel. Offered with papers only.
