Hermès Kelly 32 Blanc Toile and Togo Palladium Hardware 2005

Toile Kellys are the warm-weather build — a canvas body with leather trim, which takes a good deal of weight out of a 32cm bag and changes how it wears. Here the trim is Togo, the pebbled calfskin Hermès introduced in 1997, in Blanc against white canvas.

Canvas is honest about its age in a way leather is not. It cannot be fed and conditioned back, and on a piece from 2005 the wear is visible. This bag is graded good — visible wear, fully disclosed. That grade is the reason for the price, and the piece is offered on those terms rather than around them. A buyer who wants a Kelly with no history should look at a later bag; a buyer who wants this configuration should know what they are getting and pay accordingly.

What it keeps is the architecture — sangles, touret, clochette, the full Kelly mechanism at 32cm. Palladium hardware, cool silver and tarnish-resistant.
