Hermès Birkin 35 Le Tournay Bleu Royal Swift Palladium Hardware 2019

Swift takes colour more deeply than any grained leather Hermès works, which is why strong colours are almost always at their best on it. Bleu Royal is a deep, heavily saturated blue, and on a fine, nearly smooth hide with a slight sheen it holds as one continuous tone — no grain breaking it up, no shading across the panels.

The trade-off is real. Swift is softer than Togo or Epsom and shows pressure marks more readily. At 35cm that means a bag with some give to it rather than one that stands rigid, which is either the appeal or the objection depending on how you carry.

The 35 is the largest of the three standard sizes and the closest to the format Hermès first built in 1984. Palladium hardware, cool silver and tarnish-resistant, is the restrained choice against a blue this deep.
