Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6618 Silver Dial on Stainless Steel 1972
Description
The Ref. 6618 belongs to the generation of Rolex Oyster Perpetual ladies' watches produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s, a period when the 24mm Oyster case had reached a mature, settled form. Rolex fitted these with a self-winding movement — the screw-down crown and central seconds hand confirming the full Oyster specification — housed in a case that carries the brand's characteristic combination of corrosion resistance and mechanical reliability. The plexiglass crystal, correct to the period, is softer than sapphire but polishes cleanly and reads as entirely original on a watch of this age.
This example presents a silver dial with stick indices — the cleaner of the dial configurations available on the 6618, and the one that ages most gracefully. Silver dials from this era develop a quiet warmth under incandescent light that no photograph quite resolves. The serial number places production at 1972, and the watch retains what are described as only original parts in original condition, which matters considerably on a reference where replacement dials and hands are common. The stainless steel bracelet, bezel, and case all show very good condition with hardly visible signs of wear — honest wear for a watch of this age, not damage.
Offered in very good condition, watch only.
