Rolex Datejust 31 178240 Silver Dial on Smooth 2007
Description
The Ref. 178240 sits at the center of Rolex's mid-size Datejust lineage — the 31mm expression that arrived as Rolex refined the case proportions between the 26mm ladies' and the full 36mm, giving the Datejust 31 a presence that reads as a proper watch rather than a scaled-down one. Introduced in the mid-2000s, it carries the Caliber 2235, a movement built on the 2000-series architecture with a Parachrom hairspring and Rolex's own Glucydur balance — a combination that delivers COSC chronometer accuracy with meaningful resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variation. The screw-down crown and quick-set date mechanism are standard, but on a 31mm case they feel considered rather than incidental.
This example presents on a silver dial with Arabic indices — a configuration that ages better than the busier diamond-set alternatives, keeping the dial legible and the overall read clean. The smooth bezel and smooth bracelet reinforce that restraint; there is nothing here competing with the dial. In certain light, the silver surface shifts between warm and cool in a way that a photograph simply flattens. The Z-serial dating places production around 2007, and the watch presents throughout in very good condition with hardly visible signs of wear across the case, crystal, bracelet, bezel, and caseback.
Offered in very good condition, watch only.
