Omega Genève 146.009 Grey Leather
Description
The Omega Genève Chronostop, reference 146.009, occupies a precise and underappreciated corner of Omega's chronograph history. Introduced in the late 1960s, the Chronostop was not a conventional chronograph — it measures a single elapsed interval, stopping the central seconds hand on the first pusher press and resetting on the second, with no split or cumulative function. That constraint was a deliberate design choice, producing a cleaner movement architecture and a dial freed from the subsidiary registers that crowd most timing watches of the era. The manual-winding caliber within is correspondingly straightforward, wound and set with the confidence of a tool built for a single purpose.
This example presents in grey — the more restrained of the dial options Omega offered on the 146.009, and the one that ages better. Where lighter dials on vintage Omega pieces tend to show their decades, the grey holds its character without demanding restoration. Stick indices keep the layout uncluttered, and the 35mm stainless steel case — measured 35 x 40mm across its cushion form — wears closer to a modern 38mm than the number suggests. The plexiglass crystal, original to the watch, carries the faint warmth that no sapphire replacement can replicate. Serviced November 2025.
In very good condition throughout, offered watch only.
