Hermès Kelly Pochette Rose Dragée Swift Palladium Hardware 2007

The Kelly Pochette is a clutch made in a single size, and it is not a Mini Kelly — the two are regularly conflated and are different bags. What it keeps from the full Kelly is the front: the sangles, the touret, the clochette, reduced to a scale that holds little more than the essentials and asks to be carried rather than packed.

Rose Dragée is a pale, chalky pink — the sugared-almond tone the name refers to, not a bright one — and Swift is the leather that serves it best. Fine and nearly smooth with a slight sheen, Swift takes dye more deeply than any grained calfskin Hermès works, which on a pale colour means an even, unbroken tone across a very small panel where any variation would be obvious. The trade is that Swift is soft and shows pressure marks more readily than a structured leather.
