Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow 3558.50.00 Black Stainless Steel Open Date
Description
The Speedmaster Broad Arrow, reference 3558.50.00, occupies a specific and underappreciated corner of Omega's Speedmaster lineage. Introduced in the early 2000s as a tribute to the original 1957 broad-arrow-hand Speedmaster, it brought back the distinctive pointed-tip hands that gave the first reference its name — and paired them with a 42mm case that sits closer to the proportions of the vintage originals than the standard 42mm Moonwatch of the same era. The movement is an automatic, a meaningful departure from the hand-wound cal. 1861 that purists associate with the Moonwatch, and one that broadens the Broad Arrow's appeal to daily-wear collectors who want the aesthetic lineage without the winding ritual. The sapphire crystal keeps the dial legible and protected without the romanticism of hesalite.
This example presents on a black dial with Arabic numerals — the configuration that reads most directly as a nod to the 1957 original, where legibility was the only brief. Against a silver or white dial variant, the black holds the period character more convincingly. The case, bezel, bracelet, and caseback all show very good condition with hardly visible signs of wear, and the piece is described as unpolished — meaning the brushed and polished surfaces retain their factory geometry, which photographs cannot fully convey but the eye catches immediately on a well-preserved steel case.
Offered in very good condition as a full set with original Omega box and papers. Serviced April 2026.
