Description

The Omega Genève ref. 1660173 belongs to a chapter of Omega's history that collectors are steadily reassessing. Produced during the late 1960s and into the 1970s, the Genève line was Omega's volume workhorse — but within it, certain dial variants have separated themselves from the ordinary. This 36mm stainless steel example carries an automatic movement with central seconds, date, and quick-set function, housed in a case that wears the honest geometry of its era without apology.

The green spider dial is the reason this reference commands attention. The "spider" designation refers to the web-like gilt pattern that develops across the lacquer surface — a result of the original finishing process rather than damage — and on a green ground it reads differently in every light. Flat photographs compress it into something that looks merely green; in hand, the texture catches and releases light across the dial in a way that makes the watch genuinely difficult to put down. Against the more common silver or black Genève dials, this configuration is the one collectors seek. The case, bezel, bracelet, and caseback all present in very good condition with age-appropriate wear; the dial shows good condition with patina consistent with its vintage. Serviced June 2026, with only original parts throughout.

Offered watch only, no box or papers.
