Description

The Ref. A13035 belongs to the first generation of Breitling Colt Chronograph Automatics, a line introduced in the mid-1990s to bring the Colt family — previously dominated by quartz movements — into the mechanical era. The 41mm stainless steel case houses an automatic chronograph movement certified as a chronometer by COSC, a distinction Breitling pursued consistently across its professional catalog during this period. The rotating bezel, screw-down crown, and sapphire crystal position the Colt Chronograph as a tool watch in the Breitling tradition: built for legibility and resistance before aesthetics. Arabic numeral indices on the black dial reinforce that utilitarian brief without apology.

The black dial configuration is the right choice here. It gives the Arabic numerals maximum contrast and suits the steel case in a way the lighter dial variants never quite manage — those read softer, more dressed, which works against what the Colt is. From the right angle in natural light, the dial surface has a depth that photographs consistently flatten. This example dates to 1997, early in the reference's run, and presents in very good condition throughout — case, bezel, bracelet, and crystal all showing only the lightest signs of wear consistent with age.

Offered in very good condition, with original Breitling papers dated 1997. Watch only — no box.
